Pittsburgh sidewalk closure on Meadow Street Bridge for repairs

The Pittsburgh Department of Mobility and Infrastructure announced Thursday that it will close part of the sidewalk on the Meadow Street Bridge for repairs.

The bridge, located in the East Liberty and Larimer neighborhoods of the city, spans Negley Run Boulevard.

Authorities are closing the northeast sidewalk to allow for needed repairs, a decision based on recommendations from a routine inspection of the bridge earlier this month. The roadway of the bridge and the sidewalk opposite will remain open.

The northeast sidewalk will remain closed while the city identifies and engages with a contractor to repair the span. Officials did not immediately say what kinds of repairs were needed.

“There are no immediate structural issues for the bridge, but we are proceeding with caution,” said Kimberly Lucas, acting director of the Department of Mobility and Infrastructure.

City officials have asked pedestrians traveling on the northeast side of Meadow Street to cross at the intersections of Sainte Marie Street or Lenora Street during the closure.

The sidewalk will be closed from Friday.
